The Phoenix Room, operated by the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce, hosts events year-round, is located in the heart of Newburyport’s downtown historic district. 

This distinctive space, which occupies the entire third floor of the historic building, showcases Federalist grandeur at its finest. Its stunning features including a magnificent brass chandelier, original working fireplaces and hardwood floors. Thirteen, six-foot-high windows afford picturesque views of historic downtown Newburyport and fill the room with natural light complimenting its charm, providing an unforgettable experience.

Built in the 1809 and designed by Charles Bulfinch, the Phoenix Building takes its name from the Phoenix Marine & Fire Insurance Society. The building was destroyed by Newburyport’s Great Fire of 1811. Like a Phoenix from the ashes, the edifice, as it exists today, was rebuilt and opened once again in November 1811 as a public meeting place.
